If you have any ideas of who you'd like to see, again please e-mail us your suggestions.
The way the bookings are coming in already we cannot urge you strongly enough to get your deposits down ASAP.
Bookings are being taken on-line or if you wish you can print off a booking form or simply call the office on 0870 990 1987
Podcasts and Streams
Again people have been busy recording various sets and our publicist Sarah Foote from Favouritizm's currently busy getting them all ready for drip feeding to yourselves as per last time so you can re live those Southport memories or bits you missed.
As it was so sunny we expect a lot of you won't have watched as much of our own on site TV as normal, so again we'll include a bunch of interviews etc for you to peruse, I know a certain Sue Davidson will thank us for this!!

Following on from the last Weekender, Uber continue forward full steam ahead, proudly presenting the Offical Southport Weekender Reunion Party on Saturday 24th May at Concrete in Birmingham!
To fight off the post Weekender blues Uber bring Southport Weekender's Steve Butler to Concrete, playing alongside Birmingham's own Gary Ward, Adam Turner from 'Movementz', and residents Paul Griff & Carl Ackerman.
Then in June, none other than Frankie Feliciano makes the trip to Birmingham for his first appearance in the second city. Again at Concrete, this will be another event you just cannot miss...Frankie is seriously going to tear the place up, we can't wait!
....So there's two more massive events for your diaries! The Reunion is set to be something special and the party with Frankie Feliciano will surely be the same if you were lucky enough to witness his set at the last Weekender, so get yourselves to support the music we all love at the UK's only current Choice event.....Uber.
And if you fancy a trip over to Amsterdam Choice will be over on Saturday June 7th to help celebrate our good friend Stijn's birthday at Club 11 with everyone's good friend Kerri Chandler.
The Gallery
We've been getting loads of questions asking when the website photo gallery will be up for the last Weekender. We currently have our discs from our longstanding official photographer Colin Williams www.realtimemedia.net which are being worked on as we speak and our new friend Jae, Photos by Jae~www.MoonRisingNYC.com who I'm sure you'll all have seen about is to put it mildly sifting through about 1500 shots which she took, these will obviously take a while longer but Jae's aiming before the end of the month, then its over to Darryn the resident anorak for his side – so basically bear with us.
Merchandise
If you intended and maybe missed getting along to pick up any official merchandise from Graham's stall at the Weekender then don't hesitate to get in touch with him at www.originalsoulboy.co.uk or ring him on 07956 369 999, he's got a whole host of stuff from t-shirts to swat towels, dog tags, mugs, key fobs, bottle openers, teddy bear's, mobile screen wipes etc.

IDM News: BUGZ IN DA HOUSE... by BIG CEE
|

BUGZ IN DA HOUSE…
Whatever our said modern world would be without the help of technology? Obviously not the point of Chicago-based Consortium Muzik label head Big Cee makin’ his official debut on IDMW’s editorial team. But rather more of how it could be without the presence of pirates or should I say hackers regularly ruining its undeniable convenience…
Over the last week, there has been a great deal of speculation about a certain DJ and his ability to gain access to an alarming number of unreleased projects from various artists, producers and record labels. This is how it began for me in late January 2008, I was alerted that there was a blog that hosts numerous mixes consisting of unreleased material from my label and many others. I was dismayed my material was in the hands of anyone outside my immediate circle of producers, artist and selected DJ's. I wanted to see for myself and upon accessing this blog I found several of my unreleased projects had been a mainstay in the mixes of the DJ for months prior and wonder how this was possible…
Needless to say I became very suspect of the producers and remixers in my camp and started an internal investigation to seal this obvious leak. Before pointing the finger I also consulted with several other producers whose material was also prevalent in these mixes. I wanted to find the common denominator that linked us all. I spoke in detail with Gene King of Shine records who is a good friend and also a victim of this unauthorized access to unreleased material. Gene was most disturbed by these finding because material he had only completed in recent days was already appearing in the playlist of this DJ on his blog. The only common factor was the use of AOL Instant Messenger, I then went directly to this DJ and asked him how was he able to gain access to my material as did Gene. Well of course, the latest was very vague on his explanation and would give no details and felt he was doing us all a great favor by promoting our… stolen music. He claimed he knew several producers who regularly sent him their projects, but this didn't sit well with me because I knew for a fact Gene King hadn't sent this guy anything yet all his most recent music was being played in these mixes. Still being unsure of source of this leak, I continued to search for an answer and solution. I was almost sure this DJ had ability to intercept AOL Instant Messenger transmission and performed several searches on Google for an answer to no avail. Nevertheless I continued to monitor this blog, all the while making changes on how I distributed my material to my inner circle. In effort to appease me, this DJ posted a mix I did for Lars's XM radio show + a lot of promotional information about my label. In late March I was again alerted a new unreleased track from my label had appeared in another of this DJ's mixes. I confronted him and asked how did he obtain this track,. He tried to put the blame on the producer saying he passed it to a friend who then shared it with him. I immediately contacted this producer who was angered by the accusation and also confronted this DJ. At this point I was determined to find and seal this leak, I reached out to a friend who had vast knowledge of the internet and asked is there such a software that can intercept AOL Instant Messenger transmission. My friend thought I was simply paranoid, but did reach out to several of his friends who some might consider to be hackers. Within a week he contacted me back and confirmed my initial thoughts he gave me a link to the following hacker site.
It was here I learned about a flaw in AOL Instant Messenger that coupled with another program you could, as I originally thought, intercept the files being shared. I felt it was my civic duty to alert as many as possible to prevent their material from being exploited by this DJ. Since doing so I have been subjected to numerous threats by this DJ via emails and chat rooms. He would ruin my label and his intent to have all my material uploaded and offered as shareware. He also made postings on several message boards & his blog given fictious reasons why not to buy releases from my label and pleas to artist not work in conjunction with me in the future. I again want to sound the alarm to any producers, artist and labels to refrain from using AOL Instant Messenger when sending your unreleased material.
We must stop this audio terrorist and save the muzik to save our scene......
Lastly, I have made it a point not to use the name of the DJ or give his blog address because since this was first reported and as more and more people came forward to concur my findings they too have become subjects of attacks especially on his blog page. He seems to thrive on the attention and notoriety, even if its negative in nature...

IDM News: DJ CAMACHO NEEDS OUR HELP!!!
|

DJ CAMACHO NEEDS OUR HELP!
From The Underground Network Family....
I (Leslie) write this letter to inform you of a dear friend and family member of ours that has fallen on troubled times in regards to personal health and wellness.
As some of you may already know DJ Camacho has been enduring a lengthy illness. He has been battling diabetes and hypertension for several years. Coincidentally, exactly around this time last year the House Family assisted DJ Camacho with a successful fund raiser that enabled Dave Camacho to pay many outstanding debts.
Since last March of 2007 for Camacho has been uncompromising. He has been in and out of the hospital due to diabetic attacks and various illnesses related to this disease. To add to his illness, in early December Camacho suffered a minor heart attack. Needless to say, stubborn ass Camacho endured this painful experience but at a strenuous price. Many of us saw how devastating the diabetes and this new condition were not only physically debilitating but mentally as well.
Bringing in the New Year Camacho looked to be bouncing back but had a slight bout with pneumonia in the early part of February of 2008. Several days later he had his second minor heart attack in less than 2 months. Well to our dismay, more disheartening news would come Camacho’s way. This past Easter Sunday Camacho’s grieving daughter Tia called me and Urbi with news that her father David Camacho has yet suffered a 3rd minor heart attack in less than 3 months. Importantly, a stent was placed on the right side of his heart to assist the surrounding arteries. To add injury to insult, he has also lost his apartment and needs to salvage his personal items by way of storage. This has to happen immediately so that all is not lost. (studio equipment, records, personal belongings and mementos, etc.) Camacho needs the help of his House Music Family immediately. A few of us are committed to not only supporting him by means of prayer, well wishes, cards, flowers, etc. But also to assist him financially in his time of need.
Let us come together in Camacho’s time of crisis to assist him once again spiritually and financially!! What we are asking for is monetary donations!!
We have pledged an initial donation to jump start the process and will do whatever is necessary to secure his personal belongings and a new living situation.
If you would like more info in regards to Camacho and assisting him you can call Les or Urbi at 973-672-7140.
You can also email us at lesjeudy@comcast.net or
urbi@comcast.net.
If you would like to make a donation, please forward checks or
money orders to the following address to
Leslie J. Jeudy
345 Bloomfield Avenue, Ste 2
Montclair, NJ 07042-3601
Currently, Camacho is recuperating at St. Barnabas Hospital
Medical Center in NJ. He is in fair condition.
If you would like to send him a card, a letter, balloons, flowers, or any other misc gift, please do so to the following address.
C/o David Camacho (RM # 2408)
St Barnabas Medical Center
94 Old Short Hills Road

Kind Regards, Les & Urbi

IDM News: BREAKING NEWS: NEW CASE OF ILLEGAL MUSIC SHARING AROUND... by MICHAEL FOSSATI
|
In the evening of April 21 (CET),Chicago-based DJ/producer Abicah Soul made a couple of bulletin postings on MySpace about a Spanish DJ doin’ illegal music sharing (including a response from the the aforementioned who denied the accusations). On April 22, Consortium Muzik posted the same news on the Southport Weekender forum which started to give the whole affair more dimension with the accused DJ PS again denying it all. The affair given further development, with the latest at one time (for a few hours at least) having links posted to archive files of unreleased Abicah Soul music on his site.
To shed light on this issue, we’ve contacted some of the artists, producers and labels the music of which is played by DJ PS. All of them assured me that they never sent him their music, and some of them even haven't heard of him before. This confirming both what Abicah Soul and Consortium Muzik have made public as to what DJ PS has got his hands on lot of the music he plays through shady channels to say the least. So knowing there’s no way to get unreleased music legally which is appearently not the case as far as DJ PS is concerned, the issue is obviously somewhere else.
Expect further developent soon to be given on this page by Big Cee of Consortium Muzik himself doin’ his debut as correspondant for Indamixworldwide.com...

IDM News: BREAKING NEWS: ILLEGAL MUSIC SALES ON INTERNET???
|
FAO: LABEL MANAGERS, PRODUCERS, ARTISTS
Paris: 04/09/2008 10.00 pm CET
It has just come to our attention that another website might be once again fucking the whole industry while selling music at incredibly low prices…
After further check in regards to the aforementioned, here’s what we found as stated on the ‘help’ section:
Is it legal to download music from ~~~.com
Our new members often ask us is it legal to download digital content from ~~~.com and the answer is "Definitely Yes. It is completely legal to download music from our site."
Тhe availability over the Internet of the ~~~.com materials is authorized by the license # LS-3М-06-60 of the Russian Multimedia and Internet Society (ROMS). In accordance to the licenses' terms ~~~Inc pays license fees for all materials downloaded from the site subject to the Law of the Russian Federation "On Copyright and Related Rights". All these materials are solely for personal use. Any further distribution, resale or broadcasting are prohibited.
Hard to believe though that a license may have been given to a website where you may buy albums for US$ 0.15!!! This bringing us back to countless affairs where Russian platforms have been found responsible of illegal operations in a recent past…
Don’t count on us though to have its name revealed here, and this to avoid makin’ its promotion to 1000’s of readers.
Instead we’ll be more than happy to give you the full details for further enquiry when droppin’ a mail to the following address: againstthepirates@gmail.com

IDM News: WE ALL NEED TO PRAY FOR K.T. BROOKS by CHRIS PEREZ
|
WE All NEED TO PRAY FOR K.T.BROOKS... (source: deephousepage.com)
I just got a phone call from Jovonn & Dennis Ferrer about KT being admitted in the hospital. He has pneumonia & is in really bad shape. I can't describe how terrible I feel right now so I won't. What I can say about K.T. is that he is one of the most talented singer/songwriters I've ever had the pleasure & honor of working with. Through the many years that I, Dennis, Jovonn & others have worked with him, K.T. has always delivered timeless songs that should resonate for years to come. I think everyone who knows him very well would agree with me on this. He is one of the kindest, most grateful & loving human beings you'll ever know. I would ask all of youl to play your favorite K.T. Brooks track tonight & pray for Karlon because he is much too young to leave this world. My thoughts & prayers are with his family & with you Karlon! May God bless you with a full recovery.
Peace, Chris Perez

IDM News: WMC'08 - ALL MIXED UP by VALENTINO LEGIO (UDM SHOW)
|
More and more to appear on these pages in terms of feeback in regards to WMC’08 as days go with IDMW long time friend and partner Valentino Leggio of UDM Show adding his words to the whole…
WMC’08 – ALL MIXED UP by VALENTINO LEGIO of UDM SHOW
"Sun.. Fun & Nothing To Do" must be the new attitude towards WMC! Miami Beach looks like turning itself onto a big theme park during these days with all the big DJ’s and producers on the streets are the attraction to us music lovers… You see ? A bit Like what the various Walt Disney's figures are to the kids and their families when they get to see them in Orlando's or Paris' theme parks!
Unfortunately, too many negatives aspects cover the really pleasent moments you experience during these days. You meet up friends on the streets and instead of feeling their excitement you end up sharing the disappointments and to try to comfort one the other. Anyway, I’ll definitely list the positive experiences I have made. So feel free readin’ the rest if you still feel for it…
How come that those parties thrown by the people that have initially, and I'm talking about 20 years ago, build up the whole conference in the past must now fight to have their own crowd inside the club??? The answers to this could be a few. For instance, hotel rooms cost up to 3 or 4 times more than they did in a recent past. Another reason could be that three or four interesting events are taking place at the same moment. In other words, more parties each year with significantly less people coming to Miami. That can't work!!!
I'm not the kind of person who stays in the hotel room due to the disappointment trying to get over my depression. So I tried to do my best to make this trip worth it. On top I wanna thank God for havin’ some really good time with our friends Michael Fossati (Spiritofhouse.com) and Dwayne Taylor (Paradax Records, L.A.)
Sunday night. The Conference has not even officially started yet and I got to go to Club Blue. My buddies and I were five dancers out of twenty totally including the barmaid. We danced the whole night away to the best music of the whole week. The best soulful garage around delivered courtesy of the Qalamota Records posse. MAXIMUM RESPECT!
Same location, 24 hours later. Most of the headz and Industry people have now arrived and everybody was there to party and to greet their friends made over the past years. You can tell because it's hard to get inside. A thousand people trying to get into BLUE with a total capacity of 90… Well, Jellybean Benitez - The man of the night and of the whole week in my opinion - together with Master Kev, Tony Touch and Mr. V were definitely lucky to be playing at the only party in town that night. They justified it big time. Music: A1! People: F***ing Happy!
As the last ones arriving to Miami are checking in into their hotels, we’d already bumped on Tuesday and so with the beginning of the troubles.... Lucky those who made it at Blue on Monday night. At, least they’d got to see their pals once!
People you would meet on the streets were in a hectic mood trying to make it from one party to the other. Small chats and that was it. Sentence of the week: "I'll see you around". Thought of the week: "Yeahhh riiiight".
That night, I made it to Barbara Tucker's Let The Singers Be Heard and also to shortly get to hear Timmy Regisford's last hour at the Shelter Party. With both of the parties, my friends and I’ve been musicallyblessed. Monique Bingham performing "Kissing Strangers" (GOGO Music) live on stage was off the hook. Actually the best track at the moment! I'm telling you I really tried to make it the best time I could have every day. Unfortunately I missed Purple Music party. I would have loved to show support to our Swiss friends Jamie Lewis and upcoming producers Panevino…
"I Love Days Like This... Here Comes The Suuuuuuuuun!!!!!" It's Wednesday morning. The sun is finally shining and we endly all remember we are in Miami Beach. The weather gets better and so the streets gettin’ busier. Now definitely everybody is there!
After meeting some friends for a quick but relaxed lunch, we made sure to go listen to Frankie Feliciano playing in a small club on Washington Avenue. Right after him, none other than Arnold Jarvis grabin’ the microphon and charmin’ the place with the performance of his evergreens... We moved on and headed to King Street Sounds' Party at Yuca on Lincoln. As we got there, it was kind of slow but as I heard from a friend, it got massive later on and rocked until 5am. Well, I guess I had missed my first good party as a result of the problem mentioned above. We went to Gogo Music & Atal Party at the Sagamore Hotel instead. The whole Swiss connection was there together with Ralf GUM who was actually the perfect German host. Thanks to him for the nice music and the very good time we all had.
Thursday: the marathon day! We decided to pass on all of the afternoon parties and just go hang out at the beach. The sun was shining and so it did until Sunday afternoon! Of course we got a tan!
We knew from the very beginning that this was to be the night of the nights. We made it as we planned it. First place: Objectivity Party! One hour from 10.30pm - 11.30pm! Enough time to say hello to Dennis Ferrer and Karizma. I wished Ihad seen The Martinez Brothers rocking the house though. Anyway, we had to move on. Ain't Nothing But A House Party was our next step. Just a few blocks down the street to go and check out 2 hours of John Jellybean Benitez’s set! I'm telling you again. He is the man!! It was 2am as we decided to head to Downtown Miami where the Vega Records - Blaze Imprints - Soul Heaven Party was being held. We got there right on time to see Kenny Bobien performing live on stage. The new venue – the VAGABOND - is definitively a place to be confirmed for next year. A wonderful indoor floor and a very stylish outdoor area where most of the people were hanging out and enjoying the warm night. The party ended at 5.30am with a Louie Vega in best mood. Top 3 Party! Most def!! Respect!
Just enough power left to go check out the MAW Beach Party on Friday afternoon. Loads of celebrities hanging out. But I had run out of our Promo CD’s anyway… Nice but kinda relaxed vybe though. You could tell, somehow people got slowly but surely fed up. Everybody was tired and the Miami excitement had gone. At least I felt like this. In fact, this and two other parties for the Saturday were the last on my "to go to" list. I just couldn't take it no more. I mean at the end I wanted to go to the beach too. This got priority and number one on top of my list. So Saturday early evening we all went to Deep Haven Private Party. Wonderful living room with a great sound system. A pool outside and an already shut down BBQ. Besides the burgers we also missed Caroline Harding performing. Anyway thanks to Thomas Spiegel for inviting us. We'll show up earlier next year for sure… The night ended at Yuca. Yuca actually got the alternative venue to the Sony rooftop, where actually a lot should have been going on. Danny Krivit and Jellybean (again and again.. handz up please!!) were holding their Classics party. Late 70's and 80's music playing all nite. Funny how I recognized most of the tracks by the samples used in the big club hits from 1995-2008!!!

As I said already, I was exhausted and torn into mixed feelings. Didn’t know if Iwas happy or sad that the week had finally ended. I knew though that I’d be missing the warm Miami weather!
Last but not least, I’d like to express what I hope to be taken as constructive critics to the labels that do their parties in Miami. Please use efficient hosts or bouncers at the door. Because the most ironical tale I heard was about Brian Tappert and Jamie Lewis not let in to get to the Defected Party! So please, do us a favor while avoidin’ active people from the industry remain standing on lines. That only happens in Miami... like a lot of other things as a matter of fact !
Big ups to all of my friends.

IDM News: WMC'08 - DAYS LIKE THIS by DJ BEPPE GIOIA
|
Currently in Miami where he spends a bit of extra time Italian jock DJ Beppe Gioia of Garagefamilly.net and signed to Unified Records adresses us a little postcard where he expresses his feelings on the heels of the WMC’08 which is no more nowadays but a souvenir. Benvenuto ragazzo…

DAYS LIKE THIS… by DJ Beppe Gioia
‘Days Like This is’ not just the title of a great classic by the likes of Shaun Escoffery. It’s also a feeling I have each year again and again once the WMC is over. Because Miami after those days ain’t the same anymore, with you bein’ dropped from a transient reality to a then souvenir all of a sudden…
The vibes, the people, the rush to get to the best events, endin’ up loosin’ your voice and, on top of everything… the good music, one day after another… And even though many are those sayin’ that the whole thang is not what it used to be years ago – this 2008 was only my fourth time here – the Miami Conf’ remains to me like the best music concentrated on a 5 days period…
I do believe that it remains a great opportunity to be with DJ’s,producers, artists, music fans, people and, on top of it, friends from all over the word. And you can see from their smiles that everybody’s havin’ a good time despite whatever might happen, from the occasional rain, to soundcheck problems, doormen attitude and the list goes on.

Spending quite a lot of time and eventually workin’ here, I deeply miss ‘Days like this’ with no more chance bein’ confronted to a familiar face right next door but bein’ left with what to me stands as a desert with the souvenir of their voices echoing in my mind… So yes, I cruelly miss those days at the moment coz’ I feel like there’s a melancholic silence over the city. But at least, my voice is comin’ back. I’ve listened to great good house music, the one I love the most. And yeah, I wish there would be more than one WMC. But the main thing is not to lose the passion for the good music. Plus every small event can be a WMC, depending what we put on it. So most likely see you next year!
Ciao amici,
DJ Beppe Gioia

IDM News: WMC'08 - SPIRITOFMIAMI # 07 by MICHAEL FOSSATI
|
Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com in the driver’s seat delivering the very last of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates for this year 2K8. With the Conference now definitely behind, time has come for him to chill a bit before makin’ his way back home…
SPIRITOFMIAMI # 07
As mentioned yesterday, I took it easy and did hang out on the beach then later with some friends (of course we had a couple of drinks). Later it was time to enjoy a good dinner, before heading out for the last party of the year: Live III by Unified Records with three rooms and a great line-up of DJ’s. Unfortunately, many people had already left, so the party was not as crowded as it could have been (remember that last year, Live II was one of the outstanding parties with almost everybody around).
There was a wonderful live performance by Chris 'Cee Rule' Foreman's Steal Vybe dropiin’ songs from their upcoming long player Shine. Judging by those songs, this will be a jewel not to be missed, including a marvelous cover version of the "Joy & Pain" classic (the original by Maze featuring Franke Beverley is one of my all time favorites).
So what else is to be said? As every year, I had joy hanging out with many of my friends and putting faces to names, and of course do networking. But when it comes to the value of the conference from a musical perspective, there are clearly mixed emotions. I will give myself a few days time before writing my "Miami Recap" where you'll be given some deeper view as far as my feelings are concerned...
Well, so long for 2008 and hopefully will hit you there next year!!!

IDM News: WMC'08 - SPIRITOFMIAMI # 06 by MICHAEL FOSSATI
|
Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com once again in the driver’s seat this year delivering the # 06 in the series of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates…

SPIRITOFMIAMI # 06 After Friday night’s countless stops at different spots, I’ve decided to slow down and only checked out two parties yesterday. But most importantly, I got some really good sleep to got myself back into condition for partying...
Around 3pm I arrived at the invitation only DeepHaven Music party at the guesthouse of the label owner where he installed a nice sound system that you would think could take down the house with ease. With free food and drinks, and lots of well known people from the soulful house scene, this was a wonderful relaxed event that people spent to chill, chat and enjoy the beautiful weather. Not to forget Teeman-X, Sammy Rock and William 'ReelSoul' Rodriguez who created a lovely soundscape with their DJ sets.
When it came down to the live performances by Mario Inchausti and Carolyn Harding, not to forget to mention a live percussionist and William 'ReelSoul' Rodriguez playing the keys, all what needs to be said is that this was off the hook!! You might remember last year’s column where I stated that I consider Carolyn Harding being one of the best performers and entertainers house music has to offer - I have to emphasize this fact as she has this special aura that captures you within seconds. Her vocal capabilities and the interaction with the audience are truly unique, and if you haven't been there, you missed probably the best live performance in Miami this year.
Unfortunately, this event had to come to an end (remember that it took place in a residential neighborhood), so it was time to head to the next (and last party) of the night which was the Classics and House Music Weekend - NY/NJ Soul where Karizma and DJ Spinna took the roof off with their sets. Not to forget to add that there were two other rooms with many other DJ’s doing their thing.
With the WMC officially over now and many people having left already or doing so by the time writing this, things will slow down a bit more today. The only place I’ve planned to go being the Unified Records Live Volume III party in the evening/night. Not sure if I go anywhere else through the day (there isn't really anything of particular interest running) or if I just go and hang on the beach...

IDM News: WMC'08 - CLOSING EVENTS & MORE by POWER OF LOVE PRODUCTIONS
|

It's not me...but...
WMC 08 was, is, and will be remembered as chaotic and somewhat off
balanced, as it would direct itself into a new evolution transition, so therefore
its consequences. Said that, I will not really dip deep into it, since all have
anyway felt that, due all the cancellations and relocations of events and so
far...
This Year Winter Music Conference, had actually amazing panel participants
and artists as well as DJ's, producers, remixers, promoters, Labels and so far...
Jesse Saunders (Broken Records) which participated not only as panelist
but as well as ambassador of the House Music culture and it's provenance,
and roots. Reminding us all how this all suposed to be mostly to be as free as
we can only be and have fun!
DJ Wayne Williams (Jive/BMG/Sony) blessed us as well, with an dynamic
yet colorful beats slices, rounded up with some precise sample and echo
inserts...kickin until the wee hours...
Roy Davis Jr (Large Music) has given me the amazing blessing to recognize,
that the only thing which matters is Music and real, true friendship and nothing else...
Said this let's get together and celebrate our Sunday as spiritual as
possible and also to enjoy our live by celebrating it!

Always love, always no matter what!
Ohh I forgot since all the hectic stuff goin' on..
Sunday afternoon,

in peace, love and respect...= UNITY

IDM News: WMC'08 - SPIRITOFMIAMI # 05 by MICHAEL FOSSATI
|
Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com once again in the driver’s seat this year delivering the # 05 in the series of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates…

SPIRITOFMIAMI # 05
This Friday started off with a lunch with my long time friend Dwayne from Paradax Records. We took the chance to talk about lot of different aspects of house music and its business. We then went on to check some of the afternoon parties taking place in the area and ended up at Terry Thompson and Friends where I met lots of people like Michael Procter, Jask, Phil Kullmann & Sosue, Parrish (Groove Junkies) and Josh Milan (Blaze). Some nice talks took place there, but then it was time to head down to Roots at SoBe. Unfortunately, that party opened up an hour late as they still had to do the soundchecks for the live bands. When it opened, DJ Spinna threw down some classic joints with the place packed with lots of the big names being around.

After that event, it was then time to check out the We Love House party where Mr. Mike, Groove Junkies, DJ Meme, DJ Spen and Victor Simonelli were taking down the roof - well not exactly the roof as it was an outdoor hotel party… But it is safe to say that this block party was the mothafuckin' shit and the crowd went nuts when DJ Spen did his thing. Now if just more parties whould have been like this... At some point after midnight, we were told they had to turn down the volume due to the police being on scene...
The night started with the Miami Gets Deep party where in the mainroom Danny Krivit was playing kind of hard, meanwhile in the backroom King Britt went deep. I met Mark Mendoza (Phuture Sole) and his girl Wendy and on our way to the MN2S party we made a stop at SoBe Soul - it's the Music that matters. We then decided to take a ride to the Fuzion party which was about twenty blocks, but unfortunately we arrived too late as the party closed its doords kinda early shortly after 3am.
Today should see a lesser amount of parties of interest, but that is very welcome as lots of people (including myself) are in need of rest after the hillarious party marathon of the past days…

Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com once again in the driver’s seat this year delivering the issue # 04 of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates…
Not so sure as what to write about today... With the Conference being half way over, I'm still trying to capture the vibe as I'm more or less just hanging in there... I talked to a few people today and yesterday, and they also have the problem of getting into this year’s Winter Music Conference.
SPIRITOFMIAMI # 04
Even with fewer parties running, the whole thing remained too much sparse, so either you didn't see some people at all while you would cross the path of others a couple of times a day. Also it doesn't help that some of the parties are located downtown as this means once you get there, you then simply don't have the option to just walk from a party to another then find one with a good vibe.
I started with checking out some of the parties that were in the area of two blocks around my hotel. I First went to the Soul Elevation Music party and had a nice chat with Eric Levan about different topics. Next was the Souvent Records party hosted by French DJ Reeplee and "Lemonaid: a Benefit for Nextaid" where I catched Harley & Muscle playing.
Later in the afternoon, I went to the MoHo in SoBe by the Groove Junkies which required a walk down Collins Ave. with the sun burning down hard as we've finally ended up havin’ really nice weather down here. This was qite a great party with many people hanging out and lots of interesting discussions happening.
After having dinner I went back to the Souvent Records party to check out Master Kev's set who really showed the new kids on the block what can be done with todays CD players if you kow how to use them.
As I decided already before coming down to Miami not to go to any downtown parties, I just went to check out the Moxa Club meets SoulStar Records party which sadly was running low. The last stop of the night was Jay-J and Friends, which was a bit more crowded, but compared to last year it had to be considered as a disappointment.
With the experience from the previous WMC days, I'm not sure as to what to expect from today and the coming ones. Nearly comin’ to the point where I’d rather just go to the beach and get a tan...

Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com once again in the driver’s seat this year delivering the T third in the series of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates…
As mentioned yesterday, this was too be a crazy day and it definitely was with way to many parties running. And it was also a sad day as - like it happened the previous years - those many parties resulted in splitting up everything and having most of the parties running low…

SPIRITOFMIAMI # 03
Usually parties start around noon, and it turned out that this is too early for many people as they've been out all night and are still sleeping or getting breakfast. So while on my way to get a coffee around 1pm, I passed by both Sweat Meets Sweet & Deep and Habitat Records to find out that they are either setting up their systems, or that they had no people yet.
A little bit latter - after hanging by the windy beach for a few - I went to the City Deep party which actually had a crowd, but quite different as compared to last year, as you would see less scene people and a bit more clubbers…
Then this was time to get back to Sweat Meets Sweet & Deep to see Frankie Feliciano doin’ his thing. It was a nice vibe, and he played an incredibly tight set. On the way over we learned that the King Street Sounds party had moved location to the Yuca Loungs. I made it just in time for the live performances by the likes of Monique Bingham, Joi Cardwell and Barbara Tucker. Next was Studio Apt on the decks, but unfortunately, most people left around that time. There were actually more people outside than inside, and it was lots of fun hanging with the New York posse there for some time.

Brooklyn Mecca/Libation happened to be the next stop where Ian Friday was throwing down a very organic vibe. It took place at the Buck 15, a small location which holds around 100 people and this was actually the only party where I've seen people waiting to get in (as I had to). Lastly for the night, we checked out the Unified Records party at Segafredo where I hanged out for a bit to chat with some friends.
As I've felt tired and all of my body was hurting from all day walking, I decided to get some rest and not go downtown where the interesting parties (Back to Paradise and GotSoul/Therapy) were taking place…
Gladly, today looks to be running at a slower pace, so hopefully the parties will have a bigger audience…

Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com once again in the driver’s seat this year delivering the second installment of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates…

So we’ve finally got the Sun over the city !! I just wish the temperatures were a bit higher as when bein’ at a rooftop party in the late afternoon, it gets reall chilly (around 65°!!!). And I mean Farenheit of course!!!
SPIRITOFMIAMI # 02
Yesterday has started with the lovely Heart & Soul Music WMC 2008 party at Chelsea hotel where you could listen to music, have a drink and chat outside with friends under the sun. Of course time came to move ahead to the next party and leave the place... The next stop on the list was the Baldeloox & Centric All Access Pool Party where memories came back from all the wonderful poolside parties in the past (which unfortunately are a rare things these days). After hanging out with Cory Soulfuzion, Oscar P (Open Bar) and Davidson Ospina (Ospina Digital) among others, it was time to move over to the Ambassador Opening Day BBQ which took place at the rooftop of the Sony Building) where I got - what I believe is sure to say - the "Miami 2008 Moment":
After waiting in the line for almost 30 minutes, it was my turn (with other people) to finally go into the elevator and up. We started making fun on how many people are allowed in the elevator which we soon would found out was a really, really bad idea... so approximately 15 people were in the elevator when the door closed. Between the 2nd and 3rd floor the elevator stopped because of overlad and we were stuck as it can only be moved with a bade. Pressing the alarm button didn't help, so we had to open up the door and jump out, and then take the stairs up to the roof... Unfortunately, by the time we arrived upstairs, they had ran out of beer... But at least we had some fun as we finally made our way upstairs !
As it got to cold up there just with a shirt, DJ Reeplee and myself decided to leave and go for dinner together with Amit from Tarantic Records. After that, it was time to check out the Purple Music Party, with the next stop being the Let The Singer Be Heard then the Code Red party which closed down the night…
Unluckily, as Miami mayhem is back with too many parties running at the same time, none of the parties I went was fully packed. Of course other parties such as the ones from Defected and Shelter had been packed (judging by the dozens of people waiting here and then to get in), but that is the price you have to pay in Miami for having hundreds of parties held in just five days!
This Wednesday will see some more rooftop parties, but this time I'm prepared as I bought a jacked so I won't have to freeze... Also this will be one of those days you cannot make it to all parties as there are just too many...

IDM News: WMC’08 - BREAKING NEWS : IDMW CORRESPONDANT FOSSATI STUCK ON ELEVATOR…
|
While making his way to the "Ambassador Opening BBQ" at the Rooftop of the former Sony Building (Lincoln Road 605, Miami Beach), IDMW correspondant in Miami Michael Fossati got stuck on the elevator...
It turned out that the latest had been overloaded and got stopped between the 2nd and the 3rd floor. The door on the 2nd # had to be manually opened and people had to jump out of the elevator and make their way to the roof by using the stairs (see image on the left).
As of this writing, we are not aware if the elevator has been fixed with more parties due to take place on this building in the coming days...

IDM News: WMC'08 - SPIRITOFMIAMI # 01 by MICHAEL FOSSATI
|
Michael Fossati of SpiritOfHouse.com once again in the driver’s seat this year delivering the very first of his SpiritOfMiami daily updates…

SPIRITOFMIAMI # 01
It's that time of the year again where most DJ’s, producers, label representatives and fans of house music make their way down to Miami for the yearly Winter Music Conference (WMC)... Although there must be said that some big players won’t do it this year, most notoriously like Tony Humphries and Bobby & Steve to just name those coming to mind by the time dropping those lines.
I arrived in the evening of Sunday, just to find out that the weather is bad (and had been bad the days before as well). Lots of rain and clouds, and not the sun you'd expect (and hope for)... Gladly on Monday there was no rain, although it was humid and cloudy.
One of the first things to do once you're in Miami is to get your hands on "The List", the official party guide to the WMC. This year the guide is 226 pages strong which looks to be a ground breaking record. Again, as in past years, there is simply to much going on, giving you no possibility to witness all the events you would like to...
Monday started off with a late lunch with Valentino (from the UDM Show) and Beppe Gioia. We had a nice talk about some possible future projects as well as we exchanged our thoughts on the current state of the music scene. In the afternoon, I met Teeman-X from DeepHaven Music and we went to his studio where I got an exclusive preview of things to come from the label in the near future (to be more precise, I got a listen to tracks from his artist album to be released later this year). As we used to get from the label, its all about musicianship and real songs, not just some simple tracks that might rock the floors but will be as quickly forgotten.
With the WMC officially not starting before Tuesday, there was not much going on - in fact there was only the Underground Collective party running that evening. That fiesta was really rockin', with capacity being reached early (you got to remember that Blue is not that big of a place) and a great vibe created by the DJ’s (which included Master Kev, DJ Spinna, Tony Touch and Jellybean Benitez).
The heat is supposed to be finally on Today, at least with respect due to the number of simultanous parties. But of course we hope the weather will change for the better as well! MF

M.I.A. - "Paper Planes" Homeland Security Remixes [12-INCH & CD] Interscope / XL
The unstoppable M.I.A. extends her aerial assault on the dancefloor with star-studded remixes of "Paper Planes" by some of the best pilots in the game. Co-written by none other than Diplo, the track is fully-loaded with gunshots and cash-register samples, and rolls heavily on a riff from the song "Straight To Hell" by The Clash. With the sick video clocking serious clicks online and the song itself the cause of controversy among the politically-correct powers that be, this new 12-inch bypasses security and takes flight with five killer remixers 'pon the controls. Remix royalty DFA launch an explosive space-funk version that is sure to burn up the club upon re-entry. Legendary B'More-Club pioneer Scottie B gets down and dirty with his remix, guaranteed to leave the floor bloody. Meanwhile, Mad Decent's own Blaqstarr hijacks the flight with Rye Rye & Afrikan Boy on the intercom. Diplo's crunked-out "Street Remix" hits the spot with additional murderous vocals by Bun B & Rich Boy. And Adrock (yes THAT Adrock!) gets bodies movin' with his own "Remix for the Children." With all five extraordinary renditions at your fingertips, there's no telling where this 12-inch will strike next. ---------> PROMOS: Limited 12-inch & CD promo mailing ---------> Streaming audio & more info: giantstep.net/releases/1846
Erykah Badu - "Real Thang" (Green Lantern Remix) [DIGITAL DJ PROMO] Universal Motown
Hot off releasing her incredible album New Amerykah Part One (4th World War), Erykah Badu has dropped a color-vinyl, picture-cover 2x12" single, featuring two tracks produced by Madlib. Disc one heater "The Healer" is one of the highlights from the album, but "Real Thang" is exclusive to the single, and rolls through alongside remixes by Green Lantern and Rashad 'Ringo' Smith & Tumblin Dice. The perfect remedy! ---------> PROMOS: Worldwide MP3 promo mailing ---------> Streaming audio & more info: giantstep.net/releases/1863
Estelle - "American Boy" Remixes [DIGITAL DJ PROMO] Homeschool Records
With her first single from Shine, the will.i.am-produced "Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)," still tearing up the clubs, Estelle has started 2008 off with a bang. "American Boy" finds Estelle again backed by will.i.am's peerless production; but this time she has also teamed up with Kanye West to help deliver the goods. The discoey, funk-infused track was born after John Legend requested “a hit” from her -- and this digital DJ promo is proof not only that Estelle has given Legend and the world a hit song, but as she says herself, "I gave the ladies an anthem!" The already club-friendly track has now been engergized with big-room electronic flavors by remix masterminds TS7 and Soulseekerz. Bringing you both blazing remixes, as well as the original, instrumental, acapella and more, "American Boy" is sure to win your vote this year! ---------> PROMOS: Worldwide MP3 promo mailing ---------> Streaming audio & more info: giantstep.net/releases/1843
Duffy - "Mercy" [7-INCH] Mercury Records
Channeling the ghosts of Motown, chart-topping UK soul singer Duffy is taking the US by storm with her hit song "Mercy." This picture-cover promo 7-inch features the defiantly catchy "Mercy," haunted by the ghost of Motown. Already having enjoyed four weeks at #1 on the UK national chart, the song is netting the biggest weekly audience of any record in the UK so far this year with spins reaching an audience of 77 million. Set to impact US radio in a big way, "Mercy" could just be the reason why the Los Angeles Times calls Duffy "[the] female Otis Redding," and why SPIN magazine has included her in its "One to Watch” issue. With a B-Side graced by the soulful ballad "Save It For Your Prayers," this 7-inch is a small taste of what's to come from this brilliant new artist. ---------> PROMOS: Limited US-only 7-inch promo mailing ---------> Streaming audio & more info: giantstep.net/releases/1857
