Christmas In The House sings volumes above the traditional classics and is sure to be a new beginning and fresh attitude towards the way one sees current hum-drum holiday songs.

Super producer Eric Kupper's techy alter-ego K Scope surely delivers the business on this sizzling EP. "Faith Healer" is in no uncertain terms, a slick synthy minimal track of maximal proportions, reminiscent of M.A.N.D.Y. & Booka Shade's massive "Body Language". A very left-of- center sound for Kupper but further proof this master of sounds can turn anything he touches to pure dancefloor gold, no matter what the style. "Elektrikiss" is a heady, late night electronic house instrumental, led by warm aquatic synth pads, a tasty bassline, and a pretty Rhodes piano lick. Almost cinematic in nature, stand in the middle of the dancefloor, close your eyes, press play on that movie in your head and take a ride on the after Midnight Express.

#1 King Street recording artist Roland Clark presents Urban Soul returns with a swingin' jazzy house tune that'll make you shake your rump. Roland is on the mic, egging people on to enjoy themselves, fortifying the purpose of a party. Mr. V gives us a pumpy but deep mix with a faint victrola-background hook. The 5 Beats mix (named after the Paris / NYC party with Franck Roger & Alix Alvarez and a slew of others) is a straight up simple shoo-be- doo repetitive jammin dub. The Original Mix gives the full essence with a more mainstream radio appeal. Just let go & have fun!

Around NiteGrooves HQ, we're feeling the sounds of more and more dance music producers from Eastern Europe. Hailing from Hungary, Muzzaik have really turned us out with this dynamic 12". With releases already signed to Tommy Boy Silver, Yoshitoshi, Roger Sanchez's Stealth, SAW Recordings and others, as well as remix credits for the likes of Swedish house mafia main man Steve Angello and Tiger Stripes plus deep house mainstays Ultra Nate and Osunlade, we knew this release had something very special. First up is the Original version of "Mellow"; a lovely Bossa Nova beat groover perfect for the lounge vibe or warmup set. This is followed by nothing but 4 minutes of of pure stompin chunky beats. "Reflex" is up next; a synth-driven, techy instrumental produced with a more peak hour form in mind. Then the Muzzaik Remix of "Mellow" returns with the beats alongside a ton of other sounds. Catch it!
KNG 284 - Release Date: OUT THIS WEEK!

So sorry to have to end this year on such a somber note but it is with great and extreme sadness to report the passing of a legend, Mr. Mel Cheren this past Friday, December 7th. The man who owned West End Records , and the legendary Paradise Garage and who coined House Music as "Danceable R&B" was and continues to be an inspiration to us all. Let us take a moment to remember Mel and his amazing contributions to our culture and to our music. God Bless you Mel. We will remember you always.
Back when the majority of record companies were not willing to make a commitment to Disco Music, Mel Cheren was one of the first music industry insiders to promote and support the emerging Dance Music genre, which continues to be popular to this day. Acknowledged to be one of the original driving forces behind the creation of the Disco movement, he early on gained the nickname "The Godfather of Disco" because of his innovative ideas and the trends he helped to set. With a career spanning almost five decades, Cheren's many accomplishments over the years have clearly proven him to be one of the most important and passionate figures in Dance Music history. He has demonstrated the same commitment and dedication to his AIDS charity work from the early days of the crisis. His countless contributions to the fight against AIDS have become as legendary as his music industry landmarks and his iconic status within the evolution of New York City nightlife.
Be sure to check out a very special tribute to Mel Cheren as Traxsource and Solar Radio's Future of House Radio show host Deli G interviews the legendary Mr. Tom Moulton and Eric Kupper this Thursday. Check the Quick Link or go to Traxsource.com.

TEMPLE by WIL MILTON & RODNEY CARTER (IN STORES NOW) BUY HERE WIL MILTON & RODNEY CARTER has another recording on BLAK INK MUSIC GROUP. A blissful masterpiece, and it's called TEMPLE. TEMPLE was inspired by New York City's very own night club called THE TEMPLE, held down by Resident DJ's RUBEN TORO & RAY VASQUEZ.
TEMPLE is fused with heavy percussion rhythms; beautiful strings constructed by WIL MILTON that will guarantee your attention when you hear it's first note, and the smooth vocals of RODNEY CARTER. TEMPLE has a real fluid GEORGE DUKE feel, and a real banger on the dance floor.
The message behind TEMPLE is all so powerful, which is well needed on our dance floors. The vocal hooks are placed all over the track, encouraging all to have a good time, empowering all to release those woes away, and most of all, there is no drama at the door. For all of the dancers out there, TEMPLE is your theme song
TEMPLE comes with five different mixes. Just to name a few, THE GRAVITY(NYC) VOCAL will keep you satisfied, THE DUB incorporates rhythmic infectious hooks, and will have you singing TEMPLE all day, along with THE STRINGAPELLA. Just imagine as you close your eyes, hearing the emotional tones of those beautiful strings recorded on THE STRINGAPELLA version, and the heartfelt lyrics of MR. CARTER. So sit back and enjoy TEMPLE. |
