While the whole recording
industry is heavily concentrated on finding ways to fulfil the global market’s
new expectations, the future of Compost Records has probably never looked so
bright, as demonstrated by a heavy 2004 release schedule. More explanations with
the Munich based label’s CEO, Michael Reinboth, on what is to be the first label
profile to be featured on IDMW.com…
This is why I had to create this new structure, in order to avoid
confusion in the minds of our Compost fans. True to think that they like
our way of twisting the groove, although putting our releases under the
nu jazz file seems like being an error to me. I’d much prefer seing us
being considered as doin’ future jazz or future groove or,
The reason why I called
him for this project is not only because he’s from Munich as well as a
good friend but also because I Like what he’s doing behind the desks,
pushin’ us in the very depth of leftfield techno in a way that no one
esle does. Also, let me bring you back to some soundz that also have
been ours backin the days with groups like Funkstörung, that were not so
far away on a purely electronic perspective, mentioning the launch
of an aside subsidiary called Angora Steel dedicated to this kind of
spectrum.I’m nothing but a PC punk, he enthuses, reminding his
influences that also find their niche in the electro/new wave period.
This is why I had to create this new structure, in order to avoid
confusion in the minds of our Compost fans. True to think that they like
our way of twisting the groove, although putting our releases under the
nu jazz file seems like being an error to me. I’d much prefer seing us
being considered as doin’ future jazz or future groove or,
even better,opening new perspectives,
refering for instance to what norvegian incomparable,
Bugge
Wesseltoft is doing with his New Conceptions Of Jazz. I tend to
think that it’s possible to be as spectular while built on other
perspectives, should it be classic, ambient, electro or whatever,
knowing that what counts at the end of the day is nothing but the
emotion you feel while listening to some new tune. The best exemple
being given next march with the issue-ing of Beanfield’s third
album,
Seek, where, as said on the press release statement, “digital
kisses analog“ ; where today finally looks like a rendez-vous in
which yesterday and tomorrow would seat at the same table. In other
words, where the natural leads to some new paths born out of the perfect
amalgamation of our global past…Amongst his numerous projects this year,
Michael Reinboth is also very proud to announce the soon to be released new
Intuit’s LP, that on some opposite way, should be considered as the first
true classic jazz album coming out of the bayerische stable, seing the
featurings of legends such as Andy Bey, Flora Purim, Ray Oviedo
and Doug Carn. And these are just a few of the numerous expect the
unexpexcted thangz awaited this year on Compost Records & affiliates…
