BOUNCEFM :
THE (HOUSE SCENE) OBSERVER
|
With Miami just around the corner, time has endly come for our yearly rendez-vous with long time brother Muema Lombe of Bouncefm.com who we consider as one of the most advised observers in the house circuit…

Yaow amigo, glad havin’ you back on board for the third time in a raw. Seen some consistent changes on your platform, beginning with filmed interviews. How have you been those last 12 months?
Everything is good… In NYC we are seeing a continual contraction of the deep house scene to smaller venues. Producers are seeking alternate revenue streams by way of DJing.
What should be reminded from this period, in good as bad according to you?
The good: parties like 718 Sessions by Benny Soto.
The bad: difficulting in getting young people to embrace house music rather than hip hop.
This leading us to your view of the way things evolve as far as our community is concerned…
The community is getting smaller. Hopefully this will lead to more cooperation and more collaboration.
As an observer myself, I tend to find hard to understand that current promo labellization on music finally made available to everyone on mp3 even before being submitted to the attention of the reputedly prescriptors. One comment?
Yes this is odd. It’s difficult to break a record this way.
I remember you tellin’ me last year how you sometimes got thru periods of doubt as far as the pursuit of your activities is concerned and you’re still firmly here a year later. What has kept your faith alive?
The love of the music.
I’ve noticed a sort of refreshing wind comin’ from the scene with a whole bunch of artists/producers from Abicah Soul to Carlos Mena, Boddhi Satva, Beppe Gioia, Melchyor A, Nef Nunez and Tony Loreto, but also labels like Consortium Muzik and Seed Recordings to name a few who seem like havin’ redefine the expressing form of house music if not soul. One word?
Excellent!
Your view of the future as far as spontaneous ventures like ours are concerned… Isn’t that that syndication one way or another has to be seriously considered as opposed to have each of us workin’ on our own???
Agreed. Syndication is the way to go!
The seemingly unevitable Miami gathering is once again ready to go. Do you see it as essential or has it definitely become a hype’n’buzzin’ tool for Pre Ibiza commercial stuff ?
Miami is like Madonna, popular, but no longer relevant. (MFSB)
