The Lowdown
For vinyl release number 22 (Release Date: 29th September 2008), Lost My Dog turn to a brand new American production partnership for the debut EP from the East St Louis Players. The duo of Don Tinsley and Bernard Jones come from their Midwestern namesake St Louis and first teamed up in 2006. The pair have each had success as solo artists and together they have brought their respective skills to the studio to create a blend of deep house with live musical elements.
The Players provide two original tracks ëAlways On My Mindí and ëHustliní. The former comes in two mixes, a stripped back version and the Jon Milsom Horn Mix, where their close friend Milsom adds a live trumpet. The latter is remixed by deep house stalwarts Inland Knights. The duo of Laurence Richie and Andy Riley are well known for over a decade of music and helped define the UK ëMidlandsí house sound thanks to releases on their own Drop Music label and other leading imprints such as NRK, 2020 Vision, Amenti, SoSound and Doubledown.
The Music Video Will Be on MTV DANCE and other networks soon.
This beautiful interpretative video was done by the wonderful Loraine Ffrench and Crew @ F2R Films UK.
It was shot on location outside of London.
The seasoned, enigmatic character:
Don Tinsley started out DJing around St. Louis in 1988. After finding
a old Roland drum machine and synthesizer at a pawn shop Don
collaborated with a local trip hop duo to form the dub-house project
84 Glyde. After numerous live shows at underground parties and clubs
the band went their separate ways. Shortly there after Don meet up
with a local swing band and formed the Urban Jazz Naturals. The bands
debut track 'How Can I?' became an underground house classic,
receiving closing track credits from countless industry heavyweights.
The talented new-comer, with an animated personality:
Bernard Jones' musical journey started at the age of five, when his
Grandmother insisted on his classical training in piano. He learned of
the art of DJing through local DJs and first started experimenting in
producing house in 2000. With a few releases under his belt for labels
including Kolour and Funkfield in the US, Bernard's reputation is
starting to grow. Recently he has paired up with childhood friend and
vocalist Brendan Woodard aka Aren B, who was a finalist on the
American Idol TV series. Together the pair have created some vocal
gems, the first of which will see the light of day on Lost My Dog in
October.
Between Don and Bernard there is a natural connection that is based on
friendship and a mutual passion for music. ìWe just know each other that wellÖ in the DJ scene we always looked to each other for the hot sounds in house. Itís no different in the studio, we just know what we like and how to support each otherís talents.î

DJ Linus - Right down my alley! Brilliant! Miles Maeda - A fun remix, reminiscent of early nineties house. Funky yet slightly ravey. Me likey! Laurent Garnier ñ Super funky numbers, will play a lot Raoul (Swirl People) - Like both the horn mix and the stripped dub, very fresh... also the Hustlin track is great too. Slum Science - Really good turn out from the Inland Knights Giom ñ Love the Stripped Back version, playing it everywhere. Also liking IK remix. Kinky Movement - Really like this cheers, Inland knights mix and the Jon Milson Horn Mix are the ones for me. Brett Jackson - Superb release, absolutely loving the deep, jazzy feel of 'Always On My Mind'. A firm favourite for me! Harri (Sub Club) - Inland Knights and original mix of Hustlin are great!
