10 essential 2015 gems / What’s your fav?

10 essential 2015 gems10 essential 2015 gems… It’s that time of the year to think as to what’s gonna be remembered from it in the ones to come. Hopefully, and despite both what some have stated saying everything had been written and the hard times music has gone through, there are still artists, producers and labels enlightening us with irresistibly emotive vibes. Meanwhile the good old vinyl record seems to be slowly resurfacing.

Thankfully, there are still people willing to stand away from corporatism. Like the recently launched Mi-Soul radio in London for instance. As many reasons for us here on Indamixworldwide to keep on searchin’ to find the best around. And hopefully feed your hearts and souls…

Like always, a selection is per definition limited and even more speakin’ of a Top#10! Among the year’s biggest events are without a single doubt the return of Chic. But also a ‘Reloaded’ version of Shalamar by the likes of Jody Watley along with two new ‘partners in crime’. Not to mention Louie Vega who, once again, should be pretty much be remembered as one of the leaders of the game. With thanks to an impressive series of 5 star joints. Beginning with Adeva (‘I Deserve To Breathe’) and Funkadelic (‘Ain’t That Funkin’ Kinda Hard On You’). But also Jocelyn Brown (‘You Are Everything’). Not to mention the 3 Winans Brothers along with The Clark Sisters… As many appetizers to his awaited new album due for release in February. Meanwhile, Monique Bingham (‘Elevator (Going Up)’) stands as the so to say link between him and South African producer Black Coffee.

Elsewhere, we couldn’t forget paying our props to prolific DJ/producer Opolopo. This after his successive reworks for Sandy Barber, Ferry Ultra (‘Let Me Do My Thing’) and Deep Tenor City (‘Oba’). Then more recently Los Charly’s Orchestra (‘All Around The World’).

Once again, DJ Spen‘s Quantize Recordings label has been a regular on these shores. Meaning he gave us quite a lot to do in terms of reviews. But also UK stable Reel People Music (and its sister label Papa Records). This explaining their presence in this Top#10. With the same applying to Modern Soul upcoming label DSG Music, even though to a lesser extend.

Like it or not… House Music is the direct descendant of Disco Music. As brilliantly reminded by Polish producer Juliet Sikora on her “tribute” to The Paradise Garage iconic resident Larry Levan.

It’s that time of the year to warmly thank you all for your interest in our action. Be it by submitting your releases for reviews. But also following and/or liking us. Or simply paying us a visit. Then wish you and yours a Great 2016.
With Love from all of us…
