Tennerz: Anthony Nicholson feat. Cara Dawn – Living For Today (Miquifaye Vocal Pass) (Circular Motion)
Let’s get straight to the point… Sparklin’ and soothing are most likely the first words comin’ to mind when havin’ a listen to ‘Living For Today’. As a matter of fact, it’s the result of the reunion of two definitive talents. With, on one side, the sultry Cara Dawn, a singer to count with from now on. And, on the other, Anthony Nicholson. A producer who made himself quite a reputation for the atmospherism of his works. With ‘Living For Today’ makin’ no exception. Sounding as a Summer breeze, with the singer seeming like caressing the words.

– The first time I’ve heard of Anthony Nicholson brings us back to the Miami 1997 Winter Music Conference. There, Clairaudience label Samir Hall head gave me a copy of USG‘s ‘NCameu’. I soon after elected it as my track of the Conf. An infectious gem featuring the sultry D’Borah Rivers with production work by the likes of our man along with Ron Trent. The two then partners eventually droppin’ extra recordings together either as USG or African Blues. This resulting in gems such as ‘Ebony Angel’ or ‘Sunpower’ before soon after parting ways.
From then, Nicholson would develop his own sound paralelly to his former partner. Makin’ the proof of a rare maturity while exploring experimental sounds and vibes. Meanwhile givin’ birth to countless goodies. From the vibrant ‘Voodoo Jazz Rapture’ which I eventually licensed on the vol. 1 of my ‘Ritmo Suave’ compilations. To ‘Revolution’ and ‘Sunshine’ back in 2001 on Nitegrooves. Not to mention the vibrant ‘All’ featuring Mikkhiel. A cut which he released under his Legacy guise to name but a few. All in all strenghtening his position as a one of a kind producer from a release to another. Including ‘Suckapunch’ more recently on Clairaudience. But also ‘Living For Today’ along with Cara Dawn. Not to mention ‘We Work Best’ which he has crafted for Canadian songstress Jaidene Veda.
Anthony Nicholson has released a total of 6 albums so far. With his latest – ‘Gravity’ – back in 2016 on deepArtSounds.
– A Chicago, IL native Cara Dawn has been singing since she was a child. After touring the United States and abroad, she returned to America and began performing locally. She was a rising voice in the Chicago music scene when she stepped off stage to focus on raising her son. In 2011, Cara realized that she could no longer go without music in her life. She then began studying with Gillian Kelly to find her voice again.
Her return to the stage has been well received, performing at various venues and events around the city. Cara has been working with a core group of musicians regularly for the last months. Eventually performing with them when not doing her solo projects or guest spots. She has been honing her songwriting skills. And she is currently working on her first solo album which should see the light by the end of this year.
Cara Dawn sings from her soul in every performance crafting a truly unique experience for the listener. A fact that comes has an evidence whenever havin’ a listen to the enlightening ‘Living For Today’. With extra thanks to producer Anthony Nicholson…
