Bob Dylan – Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door

Classics: Bob Dylan – Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door (Columbia)

“Mama, take this badge off of me. I can’t use it anymore. It’s getting dark, too dark to see. I feel I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door…”
Bob Dylan‘s contribution in the maturation of the contemporary music is unvaluable. One of the most talented writers of his generation, his songs literally broke the conventions at the time. This while delivering political, social, and philosophical messages. Eventually contributing to the establishment of a counterculture in the 60’s.

On a slightly lighter theme though, one of his signature songs remains ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’. A cut taken from the soundtrack of the memorable 1973 Sam Peckinpah directed Western, ‘Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid’. A film where he also happened to play as an actor. Thus sharing the bill with James Coburn, Jason Robards and Kris Kristofferson

Members of the Western Writers Of America chose ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’ as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time.
