Club Artists United – Sweet Chariot (Remix)

This Beat Is Mine! (*) Club Artists United – Sweet Chariot (Kerri Chandler The Big Dark Mix) (Nervous)

The first form of a collective of artists such as Blaze would do later on with Underground Dance Artists United For Life. Club Artists United happened to unite none others than Kenny Bobien, Gerideau, SuSu Bobien, Dawn Tallman, Eddie Stockley and Jazmina. In other words, some of the most beautiful voices of their generation. Something one could definitely tell when havin’ a listen to this utra soulful piece comin’ along via countless remixes. From B.O.P. on Le Millenium Records to Booker T and Tuff Jam bringing a UK flavor. Not to mention Kerri Chandler who added his deep and dark touch to it meanwhile enhancing its emotional feel.
The NJ sound the way it would get many of us dancin’ on until the morning comes.

‘Swing lo, Sweet Chariot’, as they used to sing…

Once in a week (on Wednesdays), we leave you at the command of IDMW
For this to happen, nothing’s more easy… What you’ve just got to do is drop us a line while using our contact form and let us know about your favorite piece of music (*), along with a review explaining what it suggests you and why people should dig it. And the best of it will be given a publication with your credit the week after.

With warm thanks to Montclair, NJ-based correspondent, Vivienne Petersen, for this week’s suggestion…

Gladly welcoming yours to be published next Wednesday. On your marks!

New Jersey’s Kenny Bobien has forged himself a reputation as one of the most in-demand singers in the House scene. With thanks to a unique falsetto style, he is widely seen as the “King of Gospel House Music”. Even though he left his imprint in other genres such as R&B while collaborating with many big names. From Teddy Pendergrass to Jennifer Holiday, Taylor Dayne or Celine Dion.

Kenny has powered countless club anthems. From his early works as a background vocalist along with Ten City in the second half of the 80’s. To his collaborations with some of the biggest producers in the House scene. From Kerri Chandler to Louie Vega and Blaze. But also B.O.P. and Frankie Feliciano. As many meetings which gave birth to classics such as ‘Reach’, ‘Rise Above The Storm’, ‘Hiya Love’ and ‘Father’ among others. Not to mention his cover version of ‘Why We Sing’ with post-production work by the likes of Big Moses and Johnny Dangerous. Or his memorable duet with Stephanie Cooke on ‘Love’s Been Right Here’. This in addition to ‘Old Landmark’ and ‘Baptize Me’ along with The Djoon Experience.

Kenny also happened to contribute to the memorable ‘Sweet Chariot’ under the Club Artists United guise. Then later on added his voice to the Blaze present UDAUFL‘s ‘Keep Hope Alive’ album. Meamwhile, he more recently blessed us with gems such as ‘Movin’ On’ and ‘Where I Live’, respectively with Gianluca Pighi and Wipe The Needle.

His latest delivery – ‘Love Is On The Way’ – along with producer Jose Burgos standing as another staple to be added to his already impressive list. With aditional thanks to Josh Milan whose remixing work puts it into another dimension…
