First Listen! David Bailey feat. Nicole Mitchell – Ain’t Scared To Love (Rhemi Music)
Rhemi Music stands among these (rare) labels we love for their artistic choice… Searching for the best, as opposed to try to occupy the ground by any means necessary, beginning with the countless mediocrity around!
No need sayin’ how this new jam by the likes of David Bailey along with Nicole Mitchell makes no exception. The latter perfectly assuming her role as a singer… But also as a lady strongly standing on her shoes facing love matters on this bouncing jam blending deep, soulful jazzy and funky vibes.
Ain’t scared to love, that’s the point!

Born and raised in Michigan, its no wonder this girl has the soul and spirit of Motown! A little vocal training from Bertha McNeal of Motown’s Velvelettes didn’t hurt either. Singer, songwriter, performer and actress Nicole Mitchell is definitely a bonafide quadruple threat on the scene!
Vocally, she has pipes that not only command attention with her range of power, she has a unique sound of her own.
Lyrically, her lyrics range from such emotion and truth with everything from heartache, to love, to dancing, to suicide prevention. But also loving life despite obstacles such as cancer, bucket lists’ and to loving oneself.
In terms of performances, she not only has a smile that’s radiant and contagious. She embraces you from the first note. She makes you groove, cry, laugh and sing along without even taking a step away from the microphone!
Nicole Mitchell started out performing in stage productions ranging from ‘Beehive’ to ‘Dreamgirls’ and countless others. Even being cast as a replacement for Shenzi in Disney’s ‘The Lion King’.
Once she moved to Chicago in 1998, she joined a few bands which led her to partner with bassist and friend Lamar Jones. Always having had a knack for writing, she finally met up with Keith Henderson who co-wrote and guided her thru her debut album, ‘The Many Moods Of Me’.
2008 saw the release of her CD entitled ‘A Sound Of my Own’. An album produced by Keith Henderson, Khari Parker, Sharay Reed (R.Kelly‘s bass player), G WIZ and a few others.
Although she has a unique sound of her own she has been compared to Toni Braxton, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Lisa Stansfield and Randy Crawford.
Nicole has opened shows for countless artists (Avant, Cherrelle, Angela Winbush…). Her appearance as a background vocalist on Preston Glass’s CD ‘Color’s Of Life’ led to perform with the likes of Ron Tyson, Cuba Gooding Sr, Freda Payne and more.
Nicole released her 4th project, ‘The Bi-Polar Music Project…Vol 1: Licensed To Chill’, in June 2011. The first single, ‘Forever United’, featuring Phil Perry received strong accolades. While recording it, she got tapped to record Soul/House which has landed her to make herself a name in the (soulful) House scene.
