First Listen: DJ Beloved & Reggie Steele – Your Love (DJ Spen Pianophone Synth Mix) (Quantize Recordings)

If ever a regular to these shores, then chances are great you’re familiar with DJ Beloved. The reason being his undeniable Midas touch, itself explaining why he stands on the list of those we’re following.

The host of the ‘Quantize Quintessentials Vol. 8’ compilation, he graces us with his latest production in the meantime. And here again, he delivers the Holy Grail along with singer Reggie Steele.

‘Your Love’ is a perfect combination of soulful and jazzy vibes around an uplifting message. With thanks to saxophonist Dennis Hilliman. But also to label head DJ Spen who enhances the feeling with a blowing piano part.

DJ Beloved most likely confirms once again as to how he’s a force to count with. We certainly didn’t want to miss this. And neither should you as a matter of fact…

Dwayne Tennant (DJ Beloved) is a multi-tasking man. He works as an assistant music programmer / producer /engineer on Roots NYC Live weekly Friday night mix show on WBLS. In other words, along with Kevin Hedge and Louie Vega!

He has amassed quite a music production and studio engineering discography with some of R&B & Dance Music’s elite. From Monifah, Stephanie Cooke and Kenny Bobien. Not to mention China Blac, Gerideau, Viola Sykes, and Kimara Lovelace to name a few. Eventually settin’ up what nowadays stands as a signature synonymous with absolute quality. With thanks to a bunch of First League remixes. From Tasha LaRae‘s ‘Find My Way’, also on Quantize Recordings. To Mike City feat. Dwele‘s ‘I Rock With U’ or Hallex M & DJ Fudge feat. Omar‘s ‘Ding Ding’ to name a few.

The end of 2018 standing as a turning point for him. This with the release of his ‘Hopeless Romantic’ debut-album on Quantize Recordings. And the presence of luminaries such as Will Downing and Gerideau. But also Sheree Hicks and Reggie Steele (‘Your Love’). The whole in addition to various remixes Beloved and the latter did along with time.

– A Newark, NJ native, Reggie Steele is a classically trained musician and vocalist. His attention to details and his ability to come up with what an artist desires makin’ of him a “go to guy”. Not only as a performer. But also as one of the most promising Jerzee House Music producers.
His energetic rhythmic grooves, coupled with his melodic chords, are pretty much shaping a fresh sound that House heads across the world are dancing to. One of, if not the first trace of him bring us back to 2004. This as a keyboardist on Big Moses ‘Deep Inside’. A cut which Phil Asher eventually included on his ‘Deep Inside Your Mind’ comp for Slip’N Slide the same year.

Strangely enough, a quick look at his discography tends to reveal some absence of him on the music front. And this for quite some years as a matter of fact. With his name reappearing in 2014 on the DJ Beloved remixes of ‘We Are One’ for Terry Hunter starring Jay Adams. Then, two years later, on the Logix Beatz (a joint venture with DJ Beloved) remixes of ‘Seasons’ for Nova Fronteira feat. AdaSoul. Not to mention ‘Your Love’ which marked his debut (along with DJ Beloved) on Quantize Recordings. This in addition to ‘Come Get My Love’ which the twosome also happened to rework for Sheree Hicks as a part of her ‘Love Language’ album.

From then on Steele pretty much expanded his presence. Beginning with the launch of his Steele Records label and the release of ‘Higher’. Then a bunch of collaborations. First with Carissa Nicole on ‘Stuck On You’. Then teamin’ up with Vangela Crowe on a cover version of Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway‘s ‘Where Is The Love’. With 2018 seeing him doin’ some encore with Sheree Hicks on ‘Addicted’. Then collaborating with Darryl D’Bonneau on ‘Not Just Sunday’. But also remixing ‘Kissing You’ along with DJ Beloved for Wipe The Needle. Then ‘My Luv’ for Viola Sykes although on his own this time.

Not that surprisingly, one would catch him as well givin’ a big hand to DJ Beloved on his debut-album – ‘Hopeless Romantic’ – for Quantize Recordings. And also sharin’ the duties on his own with label head DJ Spen on the outstanding ‘Surrender’ speakin’ of which one can’t do anything else but subscribe to…
