Dwele – Find A Way (Video Version)

Classics: Dwele – Find A Way (Virgin)

‘Where Did We Go Wrong?’, used to sing LTD. ‘What Went Wrong Last Night?’, wondered Millie Jakckson?
For weeks, months, years, you may go with all the green lights. Then, all of a sudden, it’s over. So you try to understand what happened from a day to another and eventually wish to find a way.
A feeling, like everything on earth as a matter of fact, has a life. Meaning a day #1, an ultimate one, then the day after and all the tomorrows from then.

“I was hopin’ we could find a way to have what we had again today, though it’s been some time since you and I… It wouldn’t hurt to try to find our love…” Fair enough then, but it’s only one side of the story: yours! Then what about the other’s? And what about the truth? ‘Life’s Just A Ballgame’ sang Womack & Womack. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose…” But if ever you want to succeed, you gotta try. This being what Detroit Neo-Soul singer expresses with a real emotion on ‘Find A Way’… Itself the lead single from his 2003 ‘Subject’ album. But also most likely his signature cut. This with production work by the likes of George Archie aka G-One (Tony! Toni! Toné, R. Kelly, Ginwine). All in all, in a vein more or less reminding of Donnie’s bumpin’ ‘Cloud 9’ as remixed by DJ Spinna.

‘Find A Way’ is another illustration of the existence of a community which has never ceased experiencing the various forms of the groove. From Hip-Hop (J Dilla, Slum Village). To (Nu-)Jazz (Carl Craig, Detroit Experiment), Disco and Funk (Theo Parrish, Moodymann). And Neo-Soul (Amp Fiddler, Dwele). This in a city – Detroit – which, despite havin’ given birth to Techno more than 25 years ago, happened to be the hometown of Berry Gordy‘s Motown label in the 60’s/70’s, should we ever have forgotten about this…

What’s the value of your vinyl record?
