Classics: Everything But The Girl – Walking Wounded (Virgin)
“Out amongst the walking wounded, every face on every bus. It’s you and me and him and her. And nothing can replace the us I knew. Nothing can replace the us I knew…”

Formed back in 1982 in Hull by lead singer and guitarist Tracey Thorn along with keyboardist and producer Ben Watt… EBTG first appeared in a jazzy sophisticated mood. In other words, in a vein one might compare to groups such as The Style Council. But also Swing Out Sister. Not to mention Matt Bianco.
The instant success of ‘Missing’ with remix work courtesy of Todd Terry back in 1994 led them to come up soon after with a more so to say electronic approach. Such as illustrated with the title track of ‘Walking Wounded’. An album which marked their debut on Virgin Records two years after. Thus melting chilling/cinematic vibes over a subtly Drum & Bass rhythm pattern…
