Jimmy Gallagher & Soul City Orchestra – Play To Win

First Listen: Jimmy Gallagher & Soul City Orchestra – Play To Win (Nigel Lowis Mix) (DSG Music)

On the heels of their ‘Disco, Soul Gold’ compilation beatiully summin’ up their activities since their launch date, DSG Music opening their 2018 in a blowing Disco Jazz/Funk way. Meanwhile welcoming saxophone player Jimmy Gallagher‘s ‘Play To Win’. With this being his second offshot as an artist as a matter of fact…

Rather sayin’ it like this, ‘Play To Win’ just says it all in itself. Bringin’ us back to the souvenir of those killer instrumentals that paved the way of the Disco period. From Ashford & Simpson‘s ‘Bourgie Bourgie’ to Funk Fusion Band‘s ‘Can You Feel It’. Not to mention The Salsoul Orchestra‘s cover version of Earth, Wind & Fire‘s ‘Getaway’. Or MFSB‘s ‘Kay-Jee’…

Comin’ up with mixing work courtesy of in-house producer Nigel Lowis… ‘Play To Win’ most likely sounds like a Jazz funktified echo to the Philadelphia Sound. Don’t you think?
