This Beat Is Mine! (*) Kenlou – Moonshine
Hard to believe Masters At Work launched their MAW Records label more than 20 years ago. This happened with the release of ‘Moonshine’ as a matter of fact. When havin’ a look at the boys’respective backgrounds, it’s easy to understand Kenny Dope took the lead on this. As most likely originating from a Hip-Hop surrounding. What rappers did on their art, Dope (simply) brought it to House Music. In other words, cleverly integrating samples. Therefore givin’ a brilliant demonstration as to what his culture is about.
Not that surprising at the end to realize where they got their inspiration from. Borrowing a sample from the live version of Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson‘s ‘Home Is Where The Hatred Is’.

Once in a week (on Wednesdays), we leave you at the command of IDMW…
For this to happen, nothing’s more easy… What you’ve just got to do is drop us a line while using our contact form and let us know about your favorite piece of music (*), along with a review explaining what it suggests you and why people should dig it. And the best of it will be given a publication with your credit the week after.
With warm thanks to San-Francisco, CA based correspondent, Howard Jenkins, for this week’s suggestion…
Gladly welcoming yours to be published next Wednesday. On your marks!
