Montell Jordan – This Is How We Do It

Classics: Montell Jordan – This Is How We Do It (Def Jam Classics)

“This is how we do it”, Montell Jordan sang back in 1995. And God knows how he managed to do it well judging by the way he charted. Thus peakin’ at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks from Apr. 15 to May 27…

“This is how we do it” (and you know the rest)… With the South Central native accomplishing the best debut one could think of at the time as as a matter of fact. Thus while delivering some uplifting message over an enhanced sample of Slick Rick‘s ‘Children’s Story’ which, in turn, borrows the bassline of Bob James‘ ‘Nautilus’. His biggest classic ever, the swingin’ ‘This Is How We Do It’ also happened to be Def Jam’s first R&B release.
Jordan is remembered as the primary male solo artist on Def Jam’s Def Soul imprint until leaving the label in 2003.
Also renown for his collaborations with artists such as Deborah Cox, Lil’ Mo and Sisqó among others, he has released a total of 7 albums.

In late 2010, He announced that he was officially leaving his music career behind to become a Worship Minister at Victory World Church in Atlanta, GA.
