Mousse T. & Lovebirds – Turkish Delight

Single Of The Week: Mousse T. & Lovebirds – Turkish Delight (Peppermint Jam)

I guess many of you might find this ‘Turkish Delight’ far from our overall spectrum. Although how would we ever feel living in a linear environment? Doing the same thing one day after another? How could we ever make a distinction in a world without contrasts??? I suppose these differences we can perceive are the things that contribute makin’ life so exciting. While offering the opportunity to make discoveries. And hopefully exciting ones for those of us willing to embrace the world the way it is, with its countless facets…

From the very first notes, you can tell ‘Turkish Delight’ has that something special. From its metronomic rhythm part, to its throbbing funk bassline. The whole producing an infectious syncopated feeling, while blending intoxicating keys around an obsessional vocal hook.

Once again, this piece might sound kinda weird to some of you. But please, make yourselves a favor and eventually consider it as if you hadn’t heard anything before. Or, if not, just consider it as a sequence in the middle of others. You’ll then pretty might feel it definitely has its moments. Don’t you think?

All in all, brilliant darkness, I would say…

From the reunion of two long time studio wizards. On one side, Peppermint Jam label head Mustafa Gündoğdu aka Mousse T. One of the first House producers in Germany along with Boris Dlugosh and Ian Pooley. He most likely came to fame back in 1997 with the memorable ‘Horny’. Then later on producing ‘Sex Bomb’ for Tom Jones. On the other, Sebastian Doering. A man who made himself a reputation as one half of production pair Knee Deep with Toddie Freese, before slightly changing direction under his Lovebirds guise.

Mousse T. and Doering have collaborated once back in 2015, releasing ‘Closer To You’ which features in the ‘Jam Files’ commpilation vol. 2. Meanwhile, ‘Prophets Hangover’, which includes ‘Turkish Delight’, is the result of their most recent meeting at Lovebirds‘ studio in Berlin.
