Shuya Okino – Still In Love (Remix)

Tennerz: Shuya Okino feat. Navasha Daya – Still In Love (Alaia & Gallo Remix) (Soul Heaven)

Italian producers Alaia & Gallo comin’ up with a boiling House remix of Shuya Okino and Navasha Daya‘s ‘Still In Love’. And needless to say how it’s a pretty well done rework. As otherwise, why would we ever mention this on these shores?
A bit expectable though. Like in the air of the current times where everything tends to get recycled over a 4X4 rhythm pattern. In other words, with the will to make you dancing in the clubs, which it pretty well does as a matter of fact.

Hard to forget though about the first version of it which appeared back in 2011 on Japanese label Especial Records. With producer Shuya Okino inserting a brilliant Jazz variation in it. And Baltimore songstress Navasha Daya bringing us back to the souvenir of Ricci Benson of the Rose Royce fame.

Not that surprising though considering the fact that the latter are responsible for the original version. One of Rose Royce‘s most sought after gems even though not their most popular. A cut that saw the light back in 1982, marking a change of direction for the band.

Brothers Shuya and Yoshi Okino formed Kyoto Jazz Massive as a DJ unit in the beginning of the 90’s. Since then, they have pioneered the way for Japanese Club Jazz/Crossover music at home and abroad. Shuya Okino also happens to be the producer of The Room club in Shibuya. One of the most vital venues worldwide in
supporting Club Jazz/Crossover music.

In 2000, Kyoto Jazz Massive signed to Compost Records. They dropped their first single, ‘Eclipse /Silent Messenger’ which soon after made number one on BBC Radio One Zubb Chart.

They eventually released their much awaited first album, ‘Spirit Of The Sun’, two years after. Many DJ’s still consider it as one of the most inspirational works in the Crossover/Jazz scene.
In 2006, Shuya Okino released his first solo album, ‘United Legends’. For this, he invited ten vocalists and ten producers to contribute to the album for which he composed all tracks. This album got made from only communicating via email. This unprecedented technique of making music would make it of special interest to the music scene.

Since then, he has released 5 extra albums. His latest of the likes – ‘Destiny’ – seeing the light back in 2014.
Diviniti, Clara Hill, Pirahnahead, Blaze, Phil Asher… But also Mark de Clive-Lowe or Nick Weston are as many names he’s collaborated with along wth time.

One of his most important works as a music selector is a compilation CD for the stylish design hotel Claska in Meguro, Tokyo.
The creativity of this man seems like havin’ no limit. He eventually wrote a book back in 2005 and is currently working on another one about DJing in the Club Jazz scene.
Okino appeared on iTunes Celebrity Playlist and was the first Japanese artists ever to achieve this. He has also selected music for NIKE+iPod and produced music for Risona Bank in Tokyo Midtown.
