Tavares – It Only Takes A Minute (Capitol)

Most Wanted! Tavares – It Only Takes A Minute (Capitol)

A band of brothers, Tavares came to fame in the mid 70’s. This while delivering some of the most appealing classics in the history of Disco/Soul. And when I say “appealing”, I mean comin’ up as an evidence. Beginning with ‘It Only Takes A Minute’, the opening cut to their 1975 ‘In The City’ album…

Conducted and arranged by Michael Omartian, with production work courtesy of Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter, ‘It Only Takes A Minute’ is Tavares’ biggest success ever. Meanwhile it most likely opened the path to further goodies. From ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ which is probably their most famous track, the year after. To ‘Whodunit’. Not to mention the 1981 Kashif and Paul Lawrence penned ‘Loveline’ which would be the object of heavy battles 20 years after on eBay.

What’s the value of your vinyl record?

Formerly known as Chubby And The Turnpikes, The Tavares brothers changed their name to Tavares when signing with Capitol back in 1973.

They released a total of 11 albums for the label. Meanwhile delivering an impressive series of classics. From ‘It Only Takes A Minute’, their biggest success ever to ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ which is probably their most famous one. Not to mention ‘Whodunit’ to a lesser extend.

The title track of their final album for Capitol, ‘Loveline’ saw them embarking on a slightly different artistic path. Just like the groovier ‘Got To Find My Way Back To You’, taken from the aptly titled ‘New Directions’ album which marked their debut on RCA.
