Tavares – Loveline (12″ Version)

Most Wanted! Tavares – Loveline (Capitol)

Famous Disco/Soul band Tavares went on to embrace funkier vibes by the beginning of the 80’s.
Something one could instantly feel on the sought after ‘Loveline’ which served as the title cut of their 1981 released album of the likes. With producer Alan Abrahams adding an incredible emphasis in the string arrangements as a matter of fact. Therefore enhancing the typical sound as developped by Kashif and Paul Lawrence who wrote the song.

Somehow reminding of Evelyn King‘s ‘I’m In Love’ which the latter co-produced. Quite strange ‘Loveline’ didn’t get more exposure than that at the time though. Which didn’t get it away from becoming the band’s most in-demand 12″ on the second hand market 20 years later…

What’s the value of your vinyl record?

Formerly known as Chubby And The Turnpikes, The Tavares brothers changed their name to Tavares when signing with Capitol back in 1973.

They released a total of 11 albums for the label. Meanwhile delivering an impressive series of classics. From ‘It Only Takes A Minute’, their biggest success ever to ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ which is probably their most famous one. Not to mention ‘Whodunit’ to a lesser extend.

The title track of their final album for Capitol, ‘Loveline’ saw them embarking on a slightly different artistic path. Just like the groovier ‘Got To Find My Way Back To You’, taken from the aptly titled ‘New Directions’ album which marked their debut on RCA.
